A Country Decorated With Solar Street Lights: The green future of Qatar

As a country dependent on energy exports, Qatar has led the world in per capita emissions of carbon dioxide for more than a decade. But what will happen to Qatar citizen as the depletion of the traditional energy resources are coming soon. And the government of Qatar is trying to build a green future for the citizen.

And the first step is the green building projects including solar street lights and sustainable building. The consortium’s Gulf business has grown quickly. Recent projects include solar street lights for a waste management facility in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and solar-powered bus shelters on Doha’s Corniche. IU-ME, which also offers energy-efficient insulated concrete, is planning to expand into Bahrain and the UAE this year.

“Sustainable development in Qatar has begun, but we need to encourage it,” said Mr al Mohannadi, the senior planning official. “Among decision makers and ordinary citizens, we must all be aware.”

No matter what, we could not live without energy. We could take street lights for an example, firstly we just burn oil or candle for illumination, and then we found that the in-room pollution do bad to our health and shift to electricity as the direct energy it is safe and clean. But recently, we found that we could not enjoy the electricity produced by oil and coal for long. And solar street lighting are invented. No doubt, solar street light will become Mainstream lighting tools soon. Qatar will gain from their right choice.
