Solar Lights In Using: Batroun Is Running a Solar Street Lighting Project

With solar street lights, you don't need to worry about wires or electrical connections. Solar lamps are powered by photovoltaic cells. The energy of the sun is concentrated on the lamps during the sunshine-filled hours. After sunset, the energy stored during the sunny day is released as light. You don't have to plug in to the electrical grid and you have night lights. So cities are trying to replace their old electrical street lamp with new solar powered street lights.

Lights powered by the energy of the sun can be very appealing to the eye at the same time as they are providing safety for citizen. Choose lighting to highlight patio space, a part of your garden or the space around a gazebo. Brighter lighting reduces the possibility of tripping over a rough pavement or pathways.

And recently, : A pilot project that will see solar energy being used in north Lebanon is set to be launched this weekend, with financial assistance from Spain.

The achievement is part of the Country Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Demonstration Project for the Recovery of Lebanon (CEDRO).

The project will take place on three levels:

The first involves the establishment of a demonstrative model addressing public sector building and facilities

The second works on activating the replication process

The third aims at triggering a national sustainable energy strategy and action plan.

Someday, we may find all the city street lights are replaced by solar powered street lamps. In this way we could save more energy to do some more meaningful things rather than Illumination.
