Solar Power Brings Light back Haiti After The Striking Earthquake 2

Whenever a natural disaster, it will be difficult for many companies to maintain their businesses, the result is people lose their jobs. When that happens, social stability will be affected. Haiti is no exception. After the occurrence of the earthquake, a large number of people lost their jobs. Apart from rebuilding their homes, another very important thing for the government is to create numerous job opportunities. So as to make the people returned to stable life. Thanks God, the solar street lights installation project meet this requirement.

But Georges, of ENERSA, and company co-founder Jean-Ronel Noel, believe that what Haiti needs beyond donations of finished solar products is the money to build up its own capacity to make and install solar systems. The pair, after studying engineering, business administration, and solar fabrication in Canada, has trained 18 young men as solar technicians and are training a group of 10 more in hope of expanding their work force.

ENERSA workers have not only manufactured solar panels, lamps, charging stations, and street lights; they’ve taken them to villages so remote that the equipment had to be hauled by d¡ê|#111nkey. “It is life-changing for people who did not have electricity whatsoever” to have the access to solar street lights, says Georges. “Children can study, and parents can meet and just socialize after dark. You can change the life of the community, instantly.”

ENERSA’s factory, which was damaged in the earthquake, is set to resume manufacturing this week.

The installation of the solar street lighting brings light back to Haiti and also brings job opportunity to the people of Haiti. What’s more it will also improve the electricity access of Haiti.
