The other usage of solar street lighting

Not long ago, I heard about the news that scientists are trying to install wireless signal transmitter in the solar street lights so that we could cut off the expense of installation of solar street lights and wireless transmitters. The story we are talking about is that we could solar street lamps could also be used as cell tower.
Cell phone antennas on street lamps are one option the city hopes will reduce the number of controversial towers being put up in neighborhoods.
The city is the first in Canada to explore using the street light technology, and two companies are looking at more than 50 possible sites where it might work, a city committee heard Wednesday.
Cellphone companies were concerned they weren't consulted on the changes and reminded the city that many past applications were submitted as a courtesy. They were particularly unhappy to go through the consultation process for towers going into industrial areas.
Under Industry Canada regulations -- the body that decides where cellphone towers go -- only towers taller than 15 meters require city input and public consultation. A number of towers shorter than 15 meters have gone in with no notice to the city or the communities, upsetting neighbors.
With a number of new companies entering the cellphone market, there will be more demand for towers.
Wind Mobile CEO Ken Campbell said his company has put up 75 antennas in the city, more than one-third of those towers. Of those, 12 were shorter than 15 meters, so an application wasn't made through the city, he said.
As most of the newly developed ideas, this idea remains an idea not widely used. And we combine both ideas together we may find that it is a good idea to build a more comprehensive state owned solar street lights.
